Cory Bredow, Drummer Extrordinare
The self-proclaimed Stick Trick King is currently looking for a band that likes to play out. He wants to align himself with like-minded driven individuals who want to succeed, or are already there. When it comes to packing the house, it is definitely all about the live show!
What Equipment Does He Prefer?
I have played many different sets. I have used many different cymbals and sticks. Name brand or no-name; if you tune it right, it is all in the amplification and effects that the venue places on your sound and what kind of room it is in. Your main concern should be comfort while playing not how much you have to save up to get something to beat the crap out of!
Cory still does special guest appearances with local bands at venues, open mics, and anywhere else he can get his hands upon a pair of drumsticks. When asked about this he says, "I just like to play, even if it is trial by fire!"
The Shells- I play a Pearl Forum set that I custom made brackets to lower the toms and cymbals to show off ME; instead of seeing a forehead behind chrome and colored shells! They are Lit with LED lighting inside the shells and have custom Black and Reflective White vinyl graphics.
The Heads- I use all Evans heads for all but 1 drum.
The Cymbals- I go for the sound I want and cost effectiveness. I play ALL Zildjian Zbt Cymbals. All are easily replaced and readily available everywhere for minimal cash! 2 pair Zildjian Hi-Hats 13", Zildjian Crashes 14", 16" and a 20" Crash Ride.
The Hardware- Most of my hardware I custom made; but I do use a standard double braced PDP Hi-hat stand with a Gibraltar drop clutch.
The Kicks- I use a Tama Dual Chain Driven Power Glide Iron Cobra Double Kick with the beater timing biased to feel.
The Sticks- I use the El-Cheap-O's that you get in bulk from any music store. I Only buy Hickory and prefer 5A. I get the most criticizm from this. For things like they’re not being weighted alike, sonically matched, or even straight. But a stick is a stick like a shell is a shell. Sound is all about how you tune it, amplify it, place effects on it, and what kind of acoustics the room is. The sticks have no relevance even when flipping thru the sky!
The Throne- This is the most important part of my setup. My Comfort! I use a Cannon Hydraulic Throne! It is bouncy, easily adjusts for height and has a good thick padded seat!
